Welcome meeting with your personal mentor

Once we have received your enrolment, we'll arrange a welcome meeting (by phone or zoom meeting if you live outside of Brisbane) with your personal mentor. In this welcome meeting, you'll gain access to and begin using our eLearning portal. 

Access to our eLearning portal

This provides you with video tutorials, templates, helpful resources and assessment guidance for each unit to guide your professional learning. You can revisit this information on your phone or laptop, where and when suits you.

A personal mentor to support your professional growth

Your personal mentor is a First Door qualified trainer and assessor, is qualified and well experienced in Early Childhood management, and in supporting people to flourish in their role. We enjoy developing a relationship with you over the duration of the course, with: 

  • phone or zoom meetings to gain insights and consider how you are (or could be) using your learning in the workplace
  • assessment guidance and support

Practical assessment with workplace projects and constructive feedback

Each assessment has been designed by First Door to develop and use essential leadership/management knowledge and skills. You'll complete relevant workplace projects so you can put your learning into practice as you complete each assessment workbook.

We provide helpful and constructive feedback within two weeks from when you submit your assesment workbook.

Flourish in Management eLearning course covers three units for essential management skills, to achieve quality outcomes in your early childhood service.

  • BSBHRM405: Successfully support the recruitment, selection and induction of staff  to employ the best people that fit your team/organisation's vision
  • BSBMGT516: Enable your team to work together and facilitate continuous improvement, aligned with the NQS
  • BSBMGT502: Manage people performance to develop growth focused educators/leaders with purpose and role clarity

Following your enrolment, you'll receive:

  • a welcome meeting with your mentor and access to the resources on our eLearning portal
  • an assessment workbook for each management unit, with workplace projects designed to guide your learning into management practices  
  • personal mentoring, with a phone/zoom meeting for each unit
  • a cerrtificate and transcript of completed units on successful completion. All completed units are able to be credit transferred towards the full Diploma of Leadership and Management qualification.

Flourish in Leadership eLearning course guides you in your leadership role, for you to develop and use essential leadership skills for Early Childhood teams.

As you complete each of the four units in this course, you will complete workplace projects to put your learning into action within your team.

  • BSBLDR502 Establish tools and processes to lead and manage effective workplace relationships
  • BSBWOR502 Create a shared team vision, a culture of team togetherness and lead and manage team effectiveness
  • BSBLED501 Become strengths-based, lead a culture of knowledge sharing and develop a workplace learning environment
     

This course supports your professional learning to achieve quality outcomes in Early Childhood teams. 

Following your enrolment, you'll receive:

  • a personal mentor for professional learning support, and a phone/zoom mentoring meeting for each unit

BSB51918 Diploma of Leadership and Management is a nationally recognised qualification. 

Qualification outcomes

With First Door, the twelve course units are grouped into three related parts: PLAN, LEAD and MANAGE. Each part is designed to equip leaders and mangers with the skills required in the National Quality Standard Quality Areas 4 & 7.

The course outcomes are to develop Team Culture. Connection, Collective Responsibility and Commitment.

Our Course Structure

You are able to commence the course at any time of the year. During your welcome meeting, we discuss and establish your Structured or Flexi training plan to suit your work/life commitment.

Brisbane-based students, that are attending workshops, start on the relevant unit that commences following enrolment and your training plan is built from your start date.

Most students complete the course over 12 months, but you have up to two years to complete this course.

You need to be employed in a leadership role so you are able to complete the NQS related workplace projects that form the assessment tasks.
