Child protection training requirements - Queensland Government protocol
Queensland has established a government protocol outlining the child protection training requirements for compliance with National Law section 162A. The approved provider of an education and care service must ensure that nominated supervisors, persons in day-to-day charge and family day care coordinators complete a child protection course*.
*Evidence of completion of one of the following units will satisfy compliance with s162A:
CHCPRT025 Identify and report children and young people at risk
OR one of these superseded units: CHCPRT001, CHCPRT026, CHCPRT002 OR CHCECE057
The approved courses are nationally recognised units of competency and must be delivered by a registered training organisation (RTO). Completion may be either stand-alone or as part of a qualification. In-house training is not sufficient.
The protocol will take effect from 1 April 2025, allowing time for the required individuals in all services to complete child protection training if they have not done so already.
Do you and your nominated supervisors need to complete the current unit CHCPRT025 Identify and report children and young people at risk?
The CHCPRT025 unit fee is $295, with a maximum of three months to complete this unit with First Door.

5 BIG reasons why First Door is the preferred RTO
for better outcomes for children, educators & your service
First Door equips and inspires educators throughout their career, starting with the Certificate lll in Early Childhood Education and Care qualification.
Across our profession, it is still far too common for educators to receive early childhood qualifications WITHOUT the time and support needed to gain the skills and knowledge required in their role. This contributes to negative outcomes for educators and service teams, including:
- low wellbeing and burnout.
- higher turnover and issues with staffing arrangements.
- educators lacking in motivation, professionalism, and/or quality practice.
- poor outcomes for children and families.
The team at First Door is committted to the opposite of this. Here's how:
1. Early childhood qualifications that develop educators' purpose, knowledge and capability
First Door has a long-established, positive reputation for developing:
